Welcome to Triangle Tech, or, as we think of ourselves, Triangle's Stage Management, Production Design, and Digital Technology Team (you can see why we just say 'tech'). While there are many great theater opportunities on campus, no other company offers the same level of resources and professionalism. We have full access to the award winning McCarter Theater Center's scene shop and their 1,200 seat Matthews Theater. As a set designer/builder, you will love the scene shop's wide array of impressive power tools and the McCarter stage's ability to hold just about anything you can imagine building. The Triangle light plot uses over 300 units, and in just our Fall Show we use enough electricity to power an average home for nearly 2 months. Our set last year included a town that we "apocalypsed" in a matter of minutes DURING every show and was held together by over 2 gallons of glue, over 1,000 nails, and over 250 screws. Broadway set and costume designers work with us on our Fall Show exposing our crew to mentorship opportunities that are unmatched anywhere else on campus.

Perhaps Triangle's greatest strength is its people, and this is particularly true on the tech side. While there are other opportunities to do technical theater on campus, only Triangle boasts a full tech staff that stays together for the entire year and that is truly part of the company. The bonding begins with a variety of small events and peaks in an intensely fun race-to-the-finish over fall break where we assemble the Fall Show set. We get to know the set (and each other) even better during our annual national tour where we get the fun of squeezing a McCarter Theater-sized show into a wide variety of venues of all shapes and sizes.

Truly, there is nowehere else on campus where you can work with a group of people as tight-knit, in a space as fantastic as McCarter, and with the mentorship of theater professionals that springs from over 120 years of performance experience both in Triangle and beyond.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Technical Director Eric Falcon or Production Manager Julia Hammer.
