Honor Code

Music and Lyrics by Peter Mills ’95

Finished the test, gave it your best
Each “t” has its cross, each “i” has its dot
Quadruple checked, it’s all correct
But there’s something that you forgot:

“I pledge my honor that I have not violated the Honor Code during this examination.”
This is the promise you make
On each and every test you take
Take a minute to sign that Honor Pledge!

Harvard and Yale look pretty pale
‘Cause if you go there it’s okay to cheat
We’ve got an edge it’s called the Pledge
And we think it’s really neat! (It’s really neat!)

“I pledge my honor that I have not violated the Honor Code during this examination.”
Those are the words that you swear
To show your prof that you played it fair
Take a minute to sign that Honor Pledge!

If you knew it last September but can’t remember it now
Then you need a way to get it down pat and here’s how
Sing along with this little song
And you will never get the words wrong
It’s short, it’s fun and here is how it goes:

“I pledge my honor that I have not violated the Honor Code during this examination.”
That is the promise you make on each and every test you take
Take a minute to sign that honor—
Sign the Pledge! Sign the Pledge! Don’t forget to sign the Pledge!
Sign that Honor Pledge!
